No issues since last update - still running strong.

Update October 2016: Just turned 68K miles.

So far, I have not had need to use the extended warranty. I discovered a small crack in one of the rear wheels which was replaced with one I purchased used online. I serviced front and rear brakes (purchased OEM parts online) - a relatively straightforward job. I performed routine maintenance and inspections since the CEL issues I had shortly after I purchased the car. Update April 2016: Overall I have been pleased with this car. Expensive (over $2K), but warranty covered all but $150. Still running strong although I did use the extended warranty last year. Overall a positive experience.Īn update: Car now has 72,000 miles on it. In the five years I drove it, the only major repairs were what I described previously. The rear end damage was extensive enough for the insurance company to declare it totaled.

Update 10/6/19: In the spring of this year the car was hit while parked in a lot. Consumer reviews 2004 Mercedes-Benz C-Class consumer reviews 25,850 starting MSRP 4.4 (45 reviews) 86 of drivers recommend this car Rating breakdown (out of 5): Comfort 4.5 Interior design 4.3. For reference, the 2004 Mercedes-Benz C-Class originally had a starting sticker price of 29,610, with the range-topping C-Class C 32 AMG Sport Sedan 4D. Recently purchased an extended warranty - just in case. However, reliability for the C-Class is somewhat questionable because of quality problems that have plagued the Benz brand. Since then, the car has run nicely - although I do get high speed vibration on certain stretches of highway (probably due the the low profile tires). In addition to the basic warranty, the C-Class comes with a four-year/50,000-mile drivetrain warranty, four-year/50,000-mile rust warranty, and a lifetime of roadside assistance. A month later a coolant pipe began leaking at the rear of the cylinder head (I replaced this myself). The 1.8L engine had a cam sensor design flaw which leaked oil into the harness (cam sensor seals were replaced under a MB recall by previous owner, but not the oil saturated harness). Within a month the CEL came on and required a new engine harness and two O2 sensors to repair. compared to the kompressor engine in terms of reliability and maintenance. I bought my 2003 C230 with 88k for $3400 at a dealer auction so you should pay max $5000 out the door for it if you want a good deal.I purchased this 2004 C230 Sedan Sport one year ago with about 56K miles on it. This capacity certainly does notThe 2007 Mercedes C230 Sport Sedan (the base. A lot of stuff gets reports and small dings do. The kompressor definitely gives it a nice kick.

Also, mine is a 6-speed and I would say jump on the manual Mercedes', you won't find many in America. Maintain it and it won't give you problems. They don't have any MAJOR problems other than the timing chain. The c-class only have small things go out, door handles, plastics, things anyone can fix. they seem to jump about every 80-120k miles. 2002-2004 have a problem with the timing chain skipping teeth, mine just did that and cost me about $1k to fix, and that was the cheapest outcome. From the Archive: With a new supercharged 1.8-liter inline-four, Mercedess entry-level hatchback. Serpentine belt tensioner failed, timing. These are the official statistics, while our visitors describe reliability of Mercedes Benz with an average rating of 4.4, and models under the BMW badge with. I work for my dad on a used car dealerships so I know quite bit about these, plus I own one :D. They are nothing but problems, they get fixed after that. I might be a little late, but as a rule of thumb, never buy a first year body style C-Class, no 1995, no 2002.
